Basketball All-Stars
Introduced in 2014, an inter-association “All-Stars” competition in Basketball was originally held between representative teams from School Sport WA – Government schools (SSWA) and the Associated and Catholic Colleges of WA (ACC), with IGSSA (WA) joining to make it a tri-association competition in 2020.
The 2025 All-Star Basketball event will be contested on Sunday the 26th of October.
In 2020, IGSSA WA joined the competition to make it a tri-association challenge, and the competition now showcases the best talent in our Secondary Schools Students.
The ACC is a sporting association for Associated and Catholic schools, currently managing 89 member schools. SSWA represent students from all WA government schools and IGSSA is an independent girls’ schools’ association comprising of 8 member schools. All three organisations work on selecting their strongest side to represent their association. For a player to qualify is a very special achievement as they compete against players from other schools both in the metropolitan and regional areas for team selection.
Whilst IGSSA WA are a small association in comparison to our rivals, we are a force to be reckoned with. To nominate for an IGSSA All-Star team, a player must receive an invitation to nominate through their own school. To meet criteria for nomination, students must be in Years 10-12, have approval of the Director of Sport in their school, and actively represent and support their School in the IGSSA Sporting Program.
